Just a quick update on Andrew. His treatments are going well. He is doing more and more himself which is helpful but also a relief to know we are doing much better knowing what we are doing! This I do not say lightly!
He finished a 40 hour work week last week and may drop down to 32 hours after this week. We agree that he needs a day to rest and recuperate, and I don't want him to use his whole weekend to do that. I appreciate that he wants no special treatment, but I also reminded him that this summer is a time to get him better and ready for his senior year.
The knots on his legs are acting up, and one is very painful when he runs. It is near the bottom of his leg, so we are getting him the calve sleeves to try. They are varicose veins, and I guess not many people his age have them. We may have to invent what we need, but I am hoping these sleeves will help. That's what Dr. Adams recommended first. We sure don't want surgery.
We continue to hope and pray for great numbers, his growth, his overall health, and that these treatments are not lifelong. That's only part of the list, but it's enough right now. Of course God knows what we should pray for, and He already has everything under control. I know I have a hard time being on the same page sometimes.
The other boys are doing well. Will is taking excellent care of Sam while I work part-time, and Peter is working and running. It's hard to believe we are coming up on the end of June.
Andrew goes back July 11 to the immunologist. Sam and Andrew also have endocrinologist appointments that day. Sam has been doing pretty well, but he did have a 23 (!!!!) with his mother taking care of him. Since I was the one who knew what he ate and what I gave him, I know it was a weird thing which is very scary because I did not do anything differently. He was happy to chomp on a chocolate chip cookie right away and came back up quickly. And then of course I dreamed that Pete told me that he was the highest he had ever been (but the meter does not read over 600), and I was the one taking care of him! But overall, he is doing well. That is one way I know how well Will is doing when he is in charge.
Thanks so much for the prayers. We appreciate them so much!
